- If . . .Then

How to connect
biblical 'dots' in our day

Leviticus 26:2-4

Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord.

If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;

Then
I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

Sooo . . . . .
IF WE
  • honor the Sabbath by keeping it holy
  • are reverent in the chapel and temple
  • obey the Lord's statutes and commandments
THEN HE
  • will give us rain in the proper season
  • will cause the land and trees to produce abundantly

With the above in mind lets look at some very recent agriculture reports.

Terrible Outlook For 2009 Global Wheat Output

by Eric deCarbonnel

The numbers for this year’s wheat output are horrible.

1) Romania = output wheat down -30%
2) Ukraine = output wheat down -27%
3) Hungary = output wheat down -28.5%
4) Czech = output wheat down -20%
5) Bulgaria = output wheat down -30%
6) Poland = output wheat down -10%
7) Spain = output wheat down -42%
8) Australia = output down -10-35%
9) Argentina = output down -34%
10) China = output down -20% or more
11) US = output down -20% or more
12) Canada = output down -12%
13) Russia = output wheat down -21.5%

Conclusion: Nothing has changed. Estimates for agricultural production are being continuously downgraded every month. Droughts, under planting, and lack of credit have devastated global agricultural output. The world is still facing food shortages in 2009.

FOR NOW
, those with access to
one of the Church's canneries can still purchase:

  • HARD WHITE WHEAT at $7.40 for 25# bulk bags or $19.50 a 6-can case (ea can 5.8#)
  • HARD RED WHEAT at $6.05 for 25# bulk bags or $17.70 a 6-can case (ea can 5.8#)
(all prices USD and current as of this posting date)

- Questions we need to ask ourselves -

Do I
  • honor the Sabbath by keeping it holy
  • be reverent in the chapel and temple
  • obey the Lord's statutes and commandments

Just wondering why the difference in prices at Provident Living for 6 x number 10 cans of wheat there shows it to be $20.40 rather than the price you show. Has one changed? Please correct whomever is incorrect. Thank you! for your work and efforts!

Actually, both prices are correct.

The price you quoted is from the prepackaged section at the bottom of the order form and the price I quoted is from the top of the order form for non-prepackaged items.

Thank you for helping to clear that up for others who may also have had questions.

Great topics and research. Love to receive your newsletters. One small request. I don't get to ready them all right away, and now have 5 or 6 emails all titles "Prepare Today Newsletter".

Could you include the title of the specific topic in the topic section of the email so we can at least pick the ones of interest, and at least find them later. I always have to re-email to myself just to get a title showing.
Thanks

You bring up a good point about Sabbath observance. As a point of interest the commandment to keep the Sabbath day holy is the only commandment also listed in the creation story.
My question is why, if Sabbath day observance is given as a sign of a perpetual covenant, [Ex. 31:16], have we defiled the covenant by changing the observance from the 7th day of the week to the first day of the week. There has never been any authority given to change which day the sabbath falls on, regardless of any other act of God. We really need to get this one right, don't you think? God didn't rest on the 1st day, but the 7th day.
Moses 3:3
3 And I, God, blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because that in it I had rested from all my work which I, God, had created and made.

God bless you in your work and may God bless us to choose the right.

Sorry, the emails are automatically generated and I have no control over content.

(Your idea makes a lot of sense and would certainly make things easier!)

With regards to Anonymous's post about the Sabbath, here is a website with a very good explanation. http://www.kencollins.com/question-42.htm
As LDS we call Sunday the Sabbath because it is to be a day of rest and worship of our Heavenly Father. When you worship is up to you. If you feel it should be Saturday, then rest and worship on that day.
